Help & Information
Frequently asked questions.
Everything you need to know about Tinks digital design files. How downloads work, what the licences cover, and how to get the best results in production.
Downloads & Files
- How do I receive my files after purchase?
- All Tinks designs are digital products delivered as instant downloads. Once your payment is confirmed, you'll receive an email with your download link, typically within a minute or two. You can also access your files at any time from your account download history. There's nothing to wait for, nothing to ship.
- What file formats are included?
- Most designs include high-resolution TIFF and PNG files suitable for fabric and wallpaper printing, along with a PDF reference sheet. Selected designs also include an AI (Adobe Illustrator) source file. Full format details are listed on each individual product page.
- What resolution are the files, and are they print-ready?
- All Tinks design files are supplied at 300dpi, the industry standard for print-quality production. They are designed from the ground up for real print applications including digital inkjet fabric printing, screen printing, and wide-format wallpaper printing. No upscaling required.
- How large is the repeat, and can I adjust the scale?
- Repeat dimensions are listed on each product page. If you need the pattern at a different scale for your specific application, you can resize freely within your design software, the 300dpi resolution gives you significant flexibility. If you need a custom scale or a bespoke size, contact us.
Licensing
- What's the difference between Personal, Commercial, and Premium licences?
- Personal use is included free with every purchase. It covers non-commercial, private projects. Commercial use (available as an add-on) allows you to produce and sell items using the design, up to 500 units. Premium / Exclusive licensing removes all unit limits and offers the option to purchase design exclusivity. Full details are on our Licensing page.
- Can I use the designs for client projects as an interior designer?
- Yes, a commercial licence covers interior designer specifications for client projects. This includes specifying our designs for client wallpaper orders, upholstery fabric, soft furnishings, and other interior applications. If you're producing fabric for resale as part of a collection, you'll also need a commercial licence.
- Can I modify or adapt the designs?
- Minor adaptations, such as colour recolouring within your design software, are permitted under commercial and premium licences. Significant restructuring of the design's composition or reselling the adapted file as a design product is not permitted. If you need a bespoke colourway or modification, we offer a custom design service. Get in touch.
- Is attribution required?
- Attribution is not required for any Tinks licence tier. You're free to produce and sell your finished items without crediting Tinks on the product, label, or packaging, though we always appreciate a mention if it feels natural.
Printing & Production
- Which fabric printing services work well with Tinks files?
- Our files are compatible with all major digital print-on-demand fabric services. We recommend Fabric8, Contrado, Printed.com, and Spoonflower as starting points. For professional production, speak to a specialist textile printer about proofing before full runs.
- What fabric types work best with these designs?
- Most of our designs are optimised for natural and natural-blend fabrics: linen, cotton, linen union, cotton canvas, and velvet. The colour palettes are calibrated for these substrates. For synthetic fabrics (polyester, lycra), colour output may vary. Request a proof before full production.
- Can the designs be used for wallpaper printing?
- Yes, all designs are supplied at a resolution and repeat structure suitable for wide-format digital wallpaper printing. We recommend paste-the-wall or self-adhesive vinyl for most applications. Specify the repeat type (straight match or drop repeat) when ordering from your wallpaper printer. This is noted on each product page.
Returns & Support
- Can I get a refund on a digital download?
- Because digital files are delivered immediately and cannot be 'returned' in the traditional sense, we generally do not offer refunds on completed downloads. However, if there is a technical issue with your files, they don't match the product description, or you experience a payment problem, please contact us and we'll resolve it promptly.
- What if my download link doesn't work or has expired?
- Download links are valid for 30 days and can be accessed multiple times within that window. If your link has expired or isn't working, contact us with your order number and we'll reissue it straight away.
- Do you offer custom or commissioned designs?
- Yes, custom commissions and bespoke colourways are available. If you have a specific brief, colour requirement, or design direction in mind, use the contact form to start a conversation. We work with a small number of custom clients each season.
